Impact of dimensionality and surface charges on the piezoelectric response of ZnO nanowires grown by MOCVD

Monday, May 6, 2024 at 2pm

Abstract :
As an abundant and sustainable semiconductor with relatively high piezoelectric coefficients, ZnO has emerged as a promising material for piezoelectric applications. Specifically, its nanowire morphology has demonstrated better performances as compared to thin films. However, their free charge carriers and surface traps are expected to impact their piezoelectric response. Several strategies to modulate these parameters are studied in this work. The enhancement of piezoelectric properties of ZnO NWs grown by MOCVD is investigated at first by varying and optimizing their dimensions. Several post-growth treatment methods are then used and analyzed to compare their impact on a variety of parameters. Finally, the development of core-shell structures with Ga2O3 is explored.
