Abstarct :
Mode-locked lasers have gained a lot of attention for their wide range of applications, from telecommunications to metrology and could benefit more compact, robust and low-cost devices. Due to its high gain and its excellent fiber compatibility, ion-exchange on rare-earth doped glass is a promising platform for delivering high quality fully integrated mode-locked lasers. In this context, we propose a mode-locked laser structure based on a cavity composed of a high gain waveguide amplifier, a commercially available SESAM and passive functions.
First results have demonstrated the feasibility of integrated mode-locked lasers composed of ion-exchanged waveguide on Er/Yb doped glass and pave the way towards developing fully integrated mode-locked lasers on the ion-exchange platform.
