Integrated optics lasers on glass
Tuesday, february 6, 2024 at 2pm
Abstract :
Integrated optics on glass is a technology that has been developed in the CROMA laboratory for over 40 years. The work presented in this manuscript focuses on the design and manufacture of integrated lasers using this technology. Two main themes emerge from the research work I have carried out on this subject. The first concerns continuous lasers, whose exceptionally narrow linewidth one of their most interesting feature. This high coherence makes these devices interesting for applications ranging from optical telecommunications to THz carrier generation and LIDARs. The second area of research concerns pulsed lasers, which also take advantage of the specific features of integrated optics on glass. These devices enable new applications such as non-linear optics. Finally, I present my research perspectives, which range from the valorization of existing devices to longer-term ideas such as the heterogeneous integration of different materials on the glass substrate or the development of devices for quantum optics.
