Terahertz time domain transmissometry method for extraction of the complex refractive index of material

Abstract :
The aim of this seminar is to present my thesis work on the development of a method for characterizing the complex refractive index of low-volume materials at frequencies up to 500 GHz. This is a time-domain method based on the generation and detection of picosecond pulses using a femtosecond laser. The measurement system will be presented, along with the extraction method used. Initial experimental results on the characterization of a drop of glycerol confirm the validity of this work in the 50 to 550 GHz frequency band.
