Abstract :
Born with the electronic vacuum tube, grown up with the transistor and reaching maturity with the integrated circuit, the operational amplifier is omnipresent in modern electronic circuits. The history of this component is fascinating. It was designed by the finest electronic engineers of our time and has contributed to the development of the largest modern semiconductor companies. The objective of this seminar is to give a quick overview of the history of this magical circuit - from Georges Philbrick and Bob Widlar to Analog Devices and Texas Instruments, from the first K2-W, the extraordinary P2 and the legendary µA741.
